The pride of the inhabitants of the village of the Gods, which stretches three dozen kilometers from Khorog, can be considered Kofir-Kala-a unique historical complex, which is an ancient fortress, as well as the ruins of the 11th and 9th round temples. Stone sufs ran the width of the walls of both structures, and the interior was supplemented with places for fires and various obelisks. Historians believe that in the old days, objects of worship covered the ceilings, equipping them with small portholes, allowing sunlight at the Zenith. Dense walls, as well as high towers installed in the temples, made Kofir-Kala a place of worship of the Sun God. It is worth noting that such structures, decorated with the symbolism of the sun, are characteristic of the Saka burial grounds found in the Pamir Mountains.
