One of the main attractions of the historical center of ancient Khujand is the ancient mausoleum of Sheikh Muslihiddin-poet, ruler, Wonderworker. Despite numerous destructions and reconstructions, the mausoleum is still a harmonious ensemble, giving an idea of the medieval architecture of the city.

The mausoleum is named after Sheikh Muslihiddin, or Maslihaddin, Khujandi, the ruler of medieval Khujand, who lived in the XII century. Sheikh, as befits an ancient Eastern ruler, was an extraordinary person-in addition to public Affairs, he was also engaged in poetry, and his subjects were revered as a miracle worker and a Saint. To the descendants came his autobiography is called “Manaqib”. Initially Muslikhiddin was buried in the village of Unji, but later his admirers moved the ashes of the ruler to Khujand and erected a mausoleum over the grave. The tomb of the XII century did not differ in excessive size and was a burial chamber of baked brick, decorated with terracotta plates. Already in the XIII century during the invasion of Genghis Khan and the subsequent decline of the mausoleum was almost destroyed.
