If you move along the highway from the city of Kulyab towards the village of Vose, then from the road you can see a unique natural monument – the salt mountain Khoja Mumin, rising up above the surrounding plain for almost 900 m. in terms of the salt dome has an oval shape, and its length in diameter reaches 8.5 km. the slopes of Khoja Mumin at the foot of the precipitous, and the height of the exposed salt walls reaches sometimes 500 m. enriched with clay admixture, thickness of about 1.5 cm. Salt has accumulated here for at least 20 thousand years.
The famous Venetian traveler Marco Polo, who visited these places several hundred years ago, wrote: “the salt here is hard, it is broken with large spades, and there is so much of It that it will last for the whole world, until the end of the world.” According to modern estimates of geologists, Khoja Mumin stores more than 30 billion tons of table salt. Khoja Mumin is famous for its healing springs, of which there are more than one hundred and sixty and which can become the basis of balneological hospitals and resorts.
