The health resort was founded in 1935 and is located 48 kilometers North of Dushanbe in the gorge of the southern slope of the Hissar ridge.
Obi Garm resort is open seasonally from May to November. For therapeutic purposes, patients of the sanatorium are prescribed hot baths, mud wraps, inhalations and physiotherapy.
Healing mud imported to the health resort, through mineral water enriched with radioactive substances and with great success are used to treat various lesions of bones, joints and some gynecological diseases.
A unique feature of the sanatorium Khoja Obi Garm are coming to the surface of the hot mineral radioactive water. It is one of the few resorts in the world where radioactive steam is used as a treatment.
