Lake Timur-Dara – high mountain flood lake origin-is an hour’s walk from the river Karatag, at an altitude of 1980 m above sea level. There are no fish in the lake. The trail leading to the lake starts from a small river of the same name Timur-Dara, which flows out of the lake and flows into the Karatag river. The lake itself is located among wooded slopes. The water in it is bright blue. One of the shores is covered with coarse granite sand and can serve as an excellent beach.

Lake Timur-Dara was formed as a result of glacier slip and mountain collapse at an altitude of 1970 meters above sea level, in the North-Eastern part of the Karatag river, between the Koshkak ranges in the North and Hilaliktau in the South. The lake is located 38 km from the district center of shakhrinav district-the village of shakhrinav.

If you believe the myths, on this sandy shore rested conqueror Tamerlane after his campaigns.
