Varzob (the Taj. Varzob) – resort area of Tajikistan, located in a picturesque gorge, which is 28 km from Dushanbe.

Varzob gorge is a favorite resting place of Dushanbe residents. There are many houses and recreation areas. Varzob gorge is widely known as a small geographical area in the basin of the river of the same name, crossing the Central part of the southern slope of the Hissar range.

Varzob is a river in southwestern Tajikistan, a right tributary of the Kafirnigan river. Length — 71 km, swimming pool — 1740 km2.

It originates on the slopes of the Hissar range, formed by the confluence of the rivers Zidda and Maihura. In the lower reaches, the average water flow is 45.9 m3 / s, max. 61.3 m3/ s, min. 31,5 m3/s and the Power — snegurenko. High water from late February to early October, the maximum flow is observed in June. Along the river, in the gorge of the same name there are numerous recreation areas, 40 km is the summer Presidential residence-Puguz. In 12 kilometers from Dushanbe there is Varzob lake-an artificial pond created specifically for the recreation of citizens. In the waters of the river are found small crustaceans, as well as small fish-Marinka and gobies. River trout are also found in the waters of Varzob. In the South, near Dushanbe, Varzob, merging with the shallow river Luchob, crosses the city, dividing it into two parts and is called “Dushanbe”. Further South, it flows into the Kafirnigan river.
